NEW STAKE IN ROME

Dear Elders and Sisters,

Given the rapidity of the times, it is entirely possible that you have already heard the wonderful news. Even so, to share it with those we love gives us an additional opportunity to express our love and gratitude to each of you.

The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve have assigned Elder M. Russell Ballard to preside over a special stake conference in Rome on September 15,2013 at the Hotel Ergife on Via Aurelia. At this conference, the districts of Naples and Sardegna have also been invited and the Rome Stake will be split and a second stake in Rome will be created.

While our time of service together was but a short period relative to the time since President Lorenzo Snow dedicated Italy for the preaching of the Gospel, your efforts were noteworthy in exercising faith sufficient to move the work forward. As you all know, in 2005, after 155 years, a stake was created in Rome with President Massimo DeFeo being called as the first stake president (President DeFeo is now the Area Seventy from Italy and serves throughout Europe). That was also 39 years after President Ezra Taft Benson had blessed / rededicated Italy for the preaching of the Gospel. Now in just 8 years the second stake will be created in Rome. What a wonderful example of spiritual growth and “hastening!”

This growth and acceleration is something I believe we all felt during our service together but we may have on occasion wondered if it was but wishful thinking. Never-the-less your best efforts at that time helped in preparing members and future members for all that has occurred since then. As we discussed during our mission time, looking throughout the world it is not uncommon for a city or state or country to arrive a 1% membership in the Church. Maybe that is why the Lord spoke of the one and the ninety and nine. A 1% Church population in Rome will bring the Church to a potential of 50,000 or more members based on current population estimates. That in itself would bring a potential of nearly 15 stakes just to the Rome area. So here is the next step, one made possible by your efforts and those who have faithfully served before and after us.

I hope you will take a moment and thank the Lord for His awareness and interest in Rome and the saints throughout Italy. I hope you will pray that His work will continue and even accelerate throughout the land that we all love so very much. With the many new missionaries that are being sent to Italy we need to pray for them, for their contacts, and especially for those who have lost their way. I hope you will pray that the work on the temple will continue and bring to fruition that wonderful set of buildings that will truly make Rome the “ETERNAL” city. I hope you will also ponder your role and realize how grateful we are and the Lord is for you having given your best efforts during your respective missions.

Our prayers are always with you! We know that most of you are experiencing joyous events as families grow, careers bloom, and spirituality deepens. We know as well that occasionally some are the recipients of heart-rending trials as illness, accident, and other unforeseen events transpire. We pray for you all and hope that the Lord’s magnifying, guiding, and comforting spirit, will be with you. We desire that your successes be frequent and great and that all the blessings of heaven come your way as you strive to do your best in living the principles of the Gospel.

While separated, once again we can link ourselves across the globe as we think of the mission hymn and the prophecies relating to the restoration of the Lord’s Kingdom in that great land of Italy! We can also say thank you to a loving Heavenly Father that has permitted us all to be “front row” participants in this great work and to see this new stake created. With our faith from afar, it will not be long until all of Italy will be shielded from Satan’s attacks to a degree by one stake after another covering the entire land. There will now be but a few small areas not so incorporated into a stake of Zion.

Announcement for Sacrament Meetings in all units within the Rome Stake and the districts of Naples and Sardegna:

“It is with joy and gratitude that we announce the reorganization of the Rome Stake with the creation of a new stake that will include the districts of Naples and Sardegna to the ends that all the faithful in this part of the Lord’s vineyard will have the opportunity to experience all the blessings of living in a stake and in preparation for the even greater blessings that will come from the temple that is being prepared in this blessed land.

This special conference of the Rome Stake, extended to the Naples and Sardegna Districts, will be held Sunday the 15th of September at 12:30 PM in the Leptis Magna Room of the Hotel Ergife, on Via Aurelia in Rome.

Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at this historic conference.

Carissimi Anziani e Sorelle,

Data la rapidita’ dei tempi, e’ possibile che avete gia’ sentito le notizie meravigliose d’oggi. Cionondimeno, a voi che siete cosi’ importante nelle nostre vite vogliamo condiverlo anche se ci da solo l’opportunita’ di esprimere una volta di nuovo quanto vi vogliamo bene e quanto siamo grati per l’amicizia che condividiamo e per il servizio che avete dato.

La Prima Presidenza e il Consiglio dei Dodici Apostoli hanno incaricato Anziano Elder M. Russell Ballard a presiedere in una conferenza di palo particolare a Roma il 15 Settembre 2013 all’albergo Erfige in Via Aurelia a Roma. A questa conferenza is distretti di Napoli e Sardegna sono stati anche invitati a partecipare e il palo di Roma sara’ divisa e un secondo palo a Roma sara’ creato.

Mentre il nostro periodo di servizio era corto paragonato al tempo da quando Presidente Lorenzo Snow dedico’ l’Italia per la predica del Vangelo restaurato, I vostri sforzi erano notevoli nel esercitare una fede sufficiente a promuovere il lavoro Avanti. Come sapete, in 2005, dopo 155 anni da quando Pres. Snow dedico’ il territorio, il primo palo a Roma fu creato con Presidente Massimo DeFeo come president (adesso lui e’ un Setanta di Area e serve in tutte le parti di Europa.) Quello era anche 39 anni dopo Presidente Ezra Taft Benson benedi’ / rededico’ l’Italia. Ora, solo dopo 8 anni un secondo palo sara’ creato a Roma. Che bell’esempio di crescita spiritual e I risultati quando affrettiamo l’opera di salvezza!

Questa crescita e accelarazione e qualcosa che io credi che abbiamo tutti provato durante il nostro servizio insieme ma forse di tanto in tanto abbiamo dubitato se fosse possibile o no. Cionondimeno I vostri sforzi a quell tempo hanno aiutato a preparare I membri e future membri per tutto cio’ che ha accaduto da quell tempo in poi. Come abbiamo discusso durante il nostro periodo di servizio insieme, controllando per tutto il mondo non e’ scomune per una citta’, uno stato, o una nazione arrivare ad avere 1% della popazione come membri della chiesa. Forse e’ per quello che il Signore ha parlato del un percento e il novantanove percento in alcuni dei suoi discorsi. Quando la chiesa arriva a 1% come membri a Roma, avremo 50,000 o di piu’ membri e fino a 15 pali a solo Roma. Quindi, vediamo il possimo passo in solo 8 anni – un passo fatto possibile grazia ai vostri sforzi e quelli da coloro che hanno servitor prima e dopo di noi.

Spero che prederete un momento per ringraziare il Signore per la sua riconoscienza e interessa in Roma e I santi Italiani. Spero che pregherete che il Suo lavoro possa continuare e anche accelerare dappertutto la terra che amiamo cosi’ tanto. Con l’influso di tanti nuovi missionary in Italia dobbiamo pregare per loro e coloro che saranno I loro addestratori. Dobbiamo anche pregare per I loro contatti, I membri, ed especialmente per coloro che forse hanno lasciato la verga di ferro. Speriamo che pregherete che il lavoro sul tempio continuera’ bene affinche’ quell edificio insieme ai suoi fratelli edifice possono rendere Roma davvero la citta’ eternal! Speriamo anche che potete considerare bene bene, il vostro ruolo in questo lavoro e che potete venire a capire quanto vi siamo grati per la vostra parte e quanto grato e’ il Signore stesso per tutto cio’ che avete fatto durante le vostre missioni individuali.

Le nostre preghiere vi includono. Sappiamo che la maggior parte di voi fate esperienze gioiose mentre crescono le vostre famiglie, mentre le vostre professioni si amplificano, e mentre la vostra spiritualita’ divente sempre piu’ profondo. Sappiamo pure che in alcuni situazioni, eventi, malatie, incidenti creano periodi quando si spezzano I nostril cuori. Preghiamo per voi tutti con la speranza che lo spirit del Signore sara’ con voi ad amplificare le cose buone e dare pace e speranza quando I giorni sembrano troppo difficile sorportare. Desideriamo che I vostri successi siano frequenti e profondi e che tutte le benedizioni di cielo saranno a vostra disposizione mentre cercare a viver meglio che potete I principi del Vangelo restaurato.

Anche separate da migliaia di kilometri, possiamo abbracciarci spiritualment nel ambiente del inno della missione e le profezie che riguardano la restaurazione del Regno del Signore nella terra grande e benedetta d’Italia. Possiamo anche rendere grazie perche’ un Padre Celeste ci Ha reso partecipi, di prima fila, in quest’grande opera e per vedere creato questo nuovo palo. Colla nostra fede, anche da lontano, non sara’ lungo l’attesa prima di vedere tutta l’Italia coperto in pali. Con ogni nuovo palo il potere di Satana viene diminuito ancora di piu’. Quando tutta la terra sara’ coperto, vedremo ancora di piu’ la velocita’ in cui il Vangelo si estende nella repubblica. Ora, rimarano pocche le zone senza un palo.

Estendiamo tutto il nostro affetto e vogliamo che sappiate quanto appreziamo I vostri sforzi in missione, la vostra amicizia, e la vostra dedizione.

“E’ con gioia e gratitudine che desideriamo annunciare la riorganizzazione del Palo di Roma con la creazione di un nuovo Palo che includera’ i Distretti di Napoli e di Sardegna, al fine di consentire a tutti i fedeli in questa parte della Vigna del Signore di godere di tutte le benedizioni di un Palo di Sion, e in preparazione delle benedizioni ancora piu’ grandi del Tempio che il Signore sta’ preparando in questa terra benedetta.
